Introduction to Social Media - Web 2.0 - Blogging (Part II of II)

Date: 07/09/2009

Time: 9-11 a.m.

This session is for those who attended Part I on June 4th and could not attend Part II on June 18th or those who attended on June 18th and want further hands on experience.

It is recommended you attend the Introduction to participate in the hands-on Training.

In this session, John Speck will guide you through the first steps in your blogging strategy. First, you will explore "your" blogosphere - that is, all the blogs and other conversations that apply to your market or industry. Next, you will learn to evaluate the quality of what you find by focusing on key metrics like currency, engagement and quality. Finally, you will engage by crafting blog comments that add value to the conversations you found and selected to participate in.

Along the way, we'll discuss other important topics like how, when and why to check back on comments you have made, or how to spot a spam blog (aka splog). While all this activity will take place on "other" blogs, the techniques you learn will be critical in making your future blog more successful.

This session is taking place at New Horizons Computer Leanring Centers located inside the same busilding as Rhode Island Economic Development. Computer will be provided.
