Live demonstration of defense and homeland security technologies scheduled for June 11 at Naval Station Newport

The Undersea Perimeter Security Integrated Defense Environment (UPSIDE) project aims to provide a harbor and port security system for ships at dockside as well as pier side critical energy infrastructure

WHEN: Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10 a.m

WHAT: Rhode Island companies, in partnership with the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and the Office of Naval Research, are developing and testing defense and homeland security technologies in Narragansett Bay.

The Project UPSIDE system essentially monitors the undersea world through a cutting-edge diver detection, classification and response system which aims to protect shore front facilities such as critical energy and transportation infrastructure.
